RE/MAX CLAIMS TOP AGENCY SPOT

In the April 2010 edition of PropertyGenie's monthly overview of real estate trends, RE/MAX of Southern Africa was listed as the top agency for the number of alerts sent for its featured properties during April 2010.  RE/MAX of Southern Africa also claimed the top agency spot in the December 2009 PropertyGenie National Trends report.

RE/MAX was followed by Seeff Properties who ranked second for the number of alerts, with Pam Golding Properties; Jawitz Properties; Rawson Properties; My Choice Properties; Vered Estates; Lew Geffen Sotheby's International; Leapfrog and Fine and Country coming in from third to tenth respectively.

In addition, RE/MAX had the fourth most viewed property on the portal: a five-bedroom home in De Waterkant selling for R7,5-million.

Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa said that the fact that RE/MAX is the most recognised name in real estate, and has recently been voted as the most trusted real estate brand, goes to show that RE/MAX agents bring a high quality, professional service offering to clients from around the world.

Gauteng and the Western Cape dominated PropertyGenie's 10 hottest suburbs which are based on page views during April. The Western Cape claimed eight out of the 10 positions. Claremont, Bryanston and Sea Point graced the top three spots with Hout Bay; Constantia; Kenilworth; Cape Town; Sandton; Rondebosch and Plumstead following in places four to ten.

RE/MAX of Southern Africa saw a 91% increase in Gauteng property sales during the first quarter of 2010, from the same period last year. The Western Cape saw a 30% increase from the 2009 first quarter figures.

The report showed that the Western Cape's top 5 suburbs based on enquiries during April were Claremont, Sea Point, Durbanville, Cape Town and Kenilworth. Gauteng's top 5 suburbs included Bryanston, Northcliff, Sunninghill and Benoni.

It is interesting to note that the top three spots in PropertyGenie's top 10 regional areas in order of number of alerts sent to homebuyers during April 2010 were the Metropolis areas of the Cape, Johannesburg and Durban. Pretoria and the Garden Route followed suite in fourth and fifth place.

"The market is showing very encouraging signs of improvement," said Goslett, "and RE/MAX is well positioned, both in terms of our quality agents and unique brand proposition, to maximise all the opportunities that come our way."
